Art 7 Photo Editing November 5th and 6th
Art 7 Photograph Editing
In class today we will watch an instructional video on how to edit a photo. Watch the video and then try to make some edits to your photos. Pick one photo to play around with first. Playing around with a photo will give you an opportunity to see what this software program can do to photos and you don’t have to worry about making mistakes. If you don’t like an edit you made just hit the “revert to original” button, or "control Z" to go back one step. When you feel comfortable using the software then you can try making some real edits to a photo. If you get stuck try asking 3 classmates for help before you ask the teacher. Here is the link to the video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwyCG1004o4Here are some edits I would like you to try:
- Try some of your photos in black and white
- Use the Crop tool to help you with Rule of Thirds
- Try vignette on some of your black and white photos or color photos
- Play around with contrast and color saturation
- Try to adjust exposure of some of your photos
- Have some fun with color
- Try some of the other tools just to see what they can do
When you finish all the editing you can do finish the Color Wheel you started with Ms. Widel last week, and if you finish that ask Ms. Widel for a Value Scale to work on.

Art 6 LOGO Design
Art 6 Graphic Design - Create a Logo for our 6th grade CWW "iConnect" camp program using the presentation software Keynote on your Mac computer.
Graphic Design Resources for Logo Competition
Slides that Mr. Green and Ms. Dowd used during CWW week in the library.
Start here
- Open Keynote.
- Create a new document with a white background.
- Save it on your desktop with a meaningful name.
- Change the size to 3000 x 3000.
- Click Document on the right and choose custom size where it says slide size.
- Change to 3000 x 3000.
Font
dafont or use fonts already installed on your Mac
(Remember, you must quit Keynote completely and then open it again for your newly installed font to work.)
Color
COLOURlovers - Choose from already created color palettes.
How to use the color palette in Keynote
- Paste a screenshot of your color palette into Keynote
- Click View / Show Colors and then follow the instructions in this video
How to change color of text and shapes - video
(Sometimes I have to close and open the color picker to get it to work!)
Shape
Some tools that are useful as you use shapes to create your logo:
- Get rid of the default drop shadow in the Format / Style menu on right.
- Select multiple shapes and group them in the Format / Arrange menu.
- Move shapes in front and behind in the Format / Arrange menu.
Need inspiration? Look at The Noun Project or flaticon. Don’t download anything...just look for ideas.
As you are working, ask yourself these questions.
Ask Yourself Why
Words have meaning.
Shapes have meaning.
Colors have meaning.
Fonts have meaning.
Graphics have meaning.
How do your choices enhance the meaning?
Ask yourself WHY!
